Powerlessness and the Child of Divorce

Welcome back to our series on dealing with the emotional impacts of divorce on children. Thus far, we have looked at:

Divorce leaves children feeling powerless over their own lives.  As decision after decision is made affecting all aspects of their lives, these kids are left with no control and very little input.  Faced with a sense of powerlessness, many of these children will act out in anger and misbehavior – something they do have control over.
